A Case of the Mondays #28

It’s another Monday morning and all I have scheduled for myself is cleaning my apartment from top to bottom. Sounds so exciting doesn’t it? My plan is to drink instant coffee (which I drink pretty much only so I can justify inhaling almond joy creamer), listen to records, and clean my heart out! Okay, maybe that doesn’t sound exciting at all….but I am weird and I just can’t wait to get started.

I’m going to be totally honest with you guys…I have been TERRIBLE about cleaning lately and it breaks my clutter hating heart to walk around our apartment right now and look at all. of. the. piles. It’s even worse since I work at home and I literally have to sit around in the piles of stuff all day and work for hours and hours. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…it has definitely been a struggle to learn to balance housework and work work since I started working from home every day. I constantly feel like the house is a mess, but I don’t have time to clean it because I need to work. And then I get frustrated because it’s not clean.

I’m hoping I finally have a solution! SCHEDULING time to clean. Today’s going to be my “deep clean” day, and then every day after today I will do a little bit each day. I’m hoping to bookend my days with 15 minutes each of picking up clutter, wiping things down, and vacuuming. For me, things only seem to get done if I schedule them to happen, so hopefully this will help!

Oh, did you come here looking for a recap of the weekend and not my sad story about our cluttered home? Here you go!

– Saturday we shopped and diy’d for my friend’s baby shower, and made a little time to have dinner at one of Newport News’ fine establishments (Hooters). I LOVE the breading and sauce at Hooters and I also really enjoy their shrimp. Is it awkward to admit that you love eating at Hooters without seeming cheesy or weird? Also, another highlight of the day was me trying to struggle two 36 inch balloons and five normal 12 inch sized ones into my already full of stuff Hyundai Sonata. I had no concept of how huge 36 inches would really be! They barely fit through my door!

– Sunday was finally baby shower day! No lie, my friend and I had been talking about this baby shower since before she was pregnant, so it was so much fun to finally see the whole thing come to life. My friend is crafty and creative and has very similar taste to me, so I really enjoyed putting together a lot of DIY projects for the shower! I didn’t take nearly as many pictures as I would have liked to, but I plan to blog some more images from the shower this week. Here’s a little peek for now!

My house was getting extremely cluttered too and Huey and I finally organized everything yesterday. It’s the best feeling in the entire world! When you live and work in the same space, it’s easy to feel defeated by the sheer amount of clutter that surrounds you. I hear ya!!

I have piles. I also have three bags of clothes sitting on the porch for purple heart so I am considering that a win. But yes, piles. I can see two in my peripheral vision as I type this that are so annoying and I know I need to clean them and stop pretending they are there. I really did almost spit out my coffee from laughing when you said fine establishments: Hooters. You crack me up. Preview from the shower looks lovely!! Can’t wait to see more!

Deep cleaning days always makes for a very relaxing evening! One day I WILL have a maid, that’s high on my list after paying off student loans 🙂

I’m shocked you were able to get two 36 inch balloons in your car at all! We had a hell of a time getting ONE in for that family session I did in VA beach.
