An Envision Peek

For Photographers

November 15, 2013

At the beginning of the year I made a list of my goals for 2013 and decided that I wanted to teach this year. I didn’t know what form that would take, or how it would work out, or even if it would. I was too scared to admit to it in public, so when I blogged my goals for the year I listed two “secret” projects I wanted to do, one of which was teaching. I honestly thought that would mean one on one mentoring or something like that…never in my wildest dreams would I have believed I could co-host a workshop alongside some of the most talented people in Virginia and Maryland. I thought to myself “What the heck do I know?? Who would want to learn from me??”. I love sharing information (as evidenced by this blog haha) and I love being able to help other people, but I sometimes lack the confidence needed to boldly go new places without hesitation or fear. I always worry and wonder and worry some more. And doubt. There’s always a lot of doubt.

After a week long adventure in Delaware with my good friends and our 12 new BFFs, I discovered that there is so much power in putting what you want out there. Next year I hope I won’t be so afraid to admit to my goals and shout them from the rooftops. All of the girls at the workshop (both attendees and hosts) inspire me so much. They have so much LIGHT inside of them and so much courage and spirit that I hope I can take a little bit of that and become more lit from within myself.

I plan to write up a full recap of the experience after I reflect more on the experience, but for now I just wanted to say that it was AMAZING and that I’m so thankful for my fellow hosts who believed in me even when I might not have, and for all of the girls who came and stayed with us for the week. It was so incredibly humbling to spend time with each and every one of them, and to hear all of their stories. I know these girls have so many big things ahead of them and it makes me so proud to know that I may have helped them even a tiny bit get headed off toward the greatness I know in my heart they’re destined for.

Here’s the group picture (minus one) from our last day:) Love you girls!!
