For Photographers: Packaging Resources

For Photographers

October 24, 2013

Lately I have been toying with the idea of re-doing my packaging during the off season, which mostly means I’ve spent a lot of time pinning examples of pretty packages I really like, and scouring my favorite packaging resources for ideas and sales. It might sound weird, but this is my idea of fun! Even though I don’t send out dvds anymore and share all of my images via cloud storage, I do still love to send out pretty packages when I can. I’m a sucker for getting something unexpected in the mail, and I know my clients love it too! Since I don’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone, or give too much away while my packaging ideas are still in developement, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite places to order cool packaging and supplies…I see photographers looking for places to order this kind of stuff or for ideas on making their brand tangible and these sites are such excellent resources! If you’re one of my bride friends reading this today, several of these sites are helpful to you too! Particularly if you are diying your invitations or anything else (favors, decor, etc). Several of the sites I used to create my own wedding invitations!!

Packaging resources for photographers_0001

Uline – Great for mailers, boxes, shipping products, etc.

Paper Source – Envelopes, flat cards, custom stationary, unique gift ideas, wrapping paper, box mailers (which are PERFECT for packaging up a few 4×6 or 5×7 prints!!), and more. Getting envelopes in your brand colors is one of the easiest ways to jazz up your packaging without a ton of effort!

Cute Tape – The motherlode of washi tape! Also, stationary, paper bags (including chevron and other cool finds), tags, stickers, labels, stamps.

Etsy.com – Pretty much anything you could imagine! You name it, someone is probably selling it. Etsy is an incredible resource for more custom or unique items.

Nashville Wraps – This is where I buy shreds to line the boxes I send out! They have a bajillion colors, but I usually end up settling for kraft:)

Rubberstamps.net –  Another easy way to dress up your packaging and/or create custom pieces on a dime, is to buy a stamp with your logo! The stamps here are so inexpensive too, which is always a plus.

Zazzle.com – Buttons, magnets, custom postage, iphone cases, press printed cards, etc. Custom postage is so much fun and adds so much personality to a package! It’s really not all that expensive, but it adds a little bit of something extra plain postage doesn’t.

WHCC – Press printed cards. I designed my thank you notes and other collateral and have it printed here. You can’t beat their fast turnaround time and free two day shipping! Unfortunately, WHCC is only open to pro photographers, so brides, this one won’t work for you:(

Divine Twine – I’m super obsessed with baker’s twine! I think it helps to just tie everything together 😉 See what I did there? Divine Twine is the best, and a roll will last you forever!

Paper and More – Envelopes, paper, etc. A little less expensive than Paper Source and a few different color options.

Envelopper – Envelopes, gift wrap, boxes, magnets, labels, seals, etc

Moo.com – Stickers, business cards, postcards, etc.

Overnight Prints – Before I used WHCC, I used Overnight Prints for all of my collateral. Their prices are really inexpensive and the quality is decent. The only downfall is it does take a little while to get your stuff.

Phoenix Tape – Custom packing tape. So cool!

Paper Presentation -Folders, tags, labels, envelopes, etc.

Well, those some of my favorite resources! I plan to do some packaging tips in the near future as a follow up, so be on the lookout for that!
