Printstagram!

A couple days ago, John and I were going HAM on some spring cleaning. I’m talking purging all over the place! We literally got rid of two big laundry baskets full of stuff. Just random stuff! At one point that afternoon I sat down to sort through a box of prints from the past few years (so I could frame some and put the rest in albums) when I realized that we have hardly any prints from the past year or so. Scratch that…we have NO prints from at least the end of 2011! I started to wonder why that might be…because despite the fact that I’m a photographer by profession, we are sadly lacking in pictures! We’re like the proverbial shoemaker whose kids have no shoes!

After talking about it with John, we realized that we don’t have prints anymore because we hardly ever use cameras when we’re out and about…we use our phones! I use my phone for everything! In fact, the only reason I took any pictures at all the whole time I was in Vegas for WPPI was because I knew I was going to want to blog about it…and I’d need pictures to prove I was actually there! I know, I know! That’s so bad!!

I was at my friend Ashley’s apartment last week (which is BALLER, in case you were wondering) and while we were going up to their rooftop deck (I told you…BALLER) I noticed some prints she’d had made of her instagrams. I freaked out a little bit and asked her where she had them printed so I could essentially go home and copy her. She used Prinstagram, which I used too!

I ordered my prints on Saturday and they came on Tuesday! I’m SO happy with how they turned out! The paper is a thick matte cardstock and the colors look very true to what they were on instagram. As a photographer I’m always scrutinizing how colors print out, and I’m happy to report that these printed faithful to the crazy filters I applied!

I hung my prints in my office from some twine tied to thumbtacks. I had some little clothespins I modge podged with gold, so I used to those to attach them to the twine. I haven’t decided what to do with the rest of the prints I ordered! I’m thinking maybe I’ll keep them in a nice box or something so they can be sifted through from time to time. I actually really love to keep prints loose like that because it’s so much fun to make looking through them an experience, if you know what I mean.
