Personal

March 17, 2016

It’s been a little while since I’ve done one of these posts and I thought it was time for an update! I love writing these posts and sharing the things I’m really into right now…partially because I like to share a little bit about myself so that our clients (and potential clients) can get to know me better through the blog, but also, selfishly, because it’s easy for me to go back and remember what I was obsessed with in a particular season! Sometimes I go through phases where I’m really into a certain snack or tv show and then kind of forget about it for a while. These posts are helpful because I have the info saved in a particular spot! Am I the only person who goes through phases with favorite things sometimes??

Here’s what I’ve been loving lately!

1.Being Boss podcast. Podcasts are my favorite to listen to while I’m cooking, washing dishes, or cleaning my office. I just recently started listening to Being Boss and I’m hooked! This is a podcast geared specifically towards creative entrepreneurs. You can listen if you’re a guy, but it does feel a bit more female centric. I like how practical and real it is, and I love that it’s geared towards all types of creative businesses and not just photography!

2. Lenny and Larry’s the Complete Cookie. I never thought I would love a vegan treat as much as I love these cookies! They are protein packed but also dairy and soy free and non GMO. These are cookies you can eat without feeling guilty! I started eating them at the end of last wedding season as a good go-to meal replacement thing I could eat in between our early lunches at the start of coverage and whenever it is dinner ends up happening. They’ve got a perfect amount of carbs for energy and are super portable! During off season I eat them before my workouts to get some quick carbs in. My favorite flavors are Coconut Chocolate Chip, Birthday Cake, and Oatmeal Raisin, but they’re all really good!

3. Skinnytaste. I started using the recipes from this blog back before we went to Hawaii when I was trying to get into shape for the trip and haven’t stopped! The recipes Gina creates are so, so good. Sometimes I feel like “healthy” versions of not so healthy foods are not all that great, but hers are amazing! You really don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything! I’ve tried maybe 20 or so of her recipes by now and there hasn’t been anything that wasn’t great. My favorites are the Jalapeño Popper Chicken Chili (which I make with ground turkey and beef because we love ground turkey), Cajun Chicken Pasta on the lighter side (reminds me of my favorite Cheesecake Factory dish!), Broccoli, Cheddar, and Potato soup, Butternut Squash Lasagna Roll ups, and the skinny Tuna Noodle Casserole

4.Mophie Juice Pack Plus. I totally didn’t want to get one of these because I don’t like my phone being extra bulky, but after seeing how great John’s has been (he got one for Christmas) and losing my universal Mophie charger, I decided to bite the bullet while I was in California and get a Juice Pack Plus. And, surprisingly, I love it!! It’s so much more convenient than the universal charger was. It’s perfect for traveling too, since you never know if you’ll be near an outlet or not.

5. Becca Ever Matte Poreless Primer. When the last of my old foundation primer ran out, I decided I wanted to try something new. After a lot of research about what would be best for my skin type (combination/oily) I picked up a tube of Becca’s Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector. It works SO well at keeping my t-zone matte and not greasy looking as the day goes on. I can’t wait to try it out on a full wedding day to see how well it does! If you get shiny as the day wears on, I’d highly recommend trying this stuff. It’s not cheap, but I’m willing to spend on things that work well and treat my skin nicely, and this does both!

Now I want to hear what you’re into! Tell me what you’re loving this early Spring!

  1. I am such a huge fan of Skinnytaste! I am obsessed with her “Shamrock Shakes”, but there are so many good recipes. We also love her Chipotle dupes!
