A Case of the Mondays #27

This past weekend flew by in the blink of an eye. I always feel like weekends are the fastest two days of any week, but this weekend that seemed to be even truer. Staying up all night having fun with friends and driving halfway across the state on Saturday night didn’t help that much, and neither did taking several much needed naps on Sunday!

Saturday I met up with my cousin and her friend for breakfast as I was headed on my way out of town to spend the day in Northern Virginia with my friend JenΒ and her friends. My cousin and I don’t get to see each other as much as we used to because we’re both so much busier, so it was great that it actually worked out! When Jen and I made it to Northern Virginia, we went outlet shopping (I bought a dress to wear to shoot weddings!) and then this really cool pasta place called Vapiano in Reston! You all know I love me some carbs and pasta dishes are always super appealing to me. If you don’t know what Vapiano is, it’s kind of like a Chipotle or Subway, but for pasta! You can pick out the type of pasta, the type of sauce, and even the meats and veggies. I chose a penne pasta with shrimp, zucchini, and garlic tossed in olive oil! So delicious. I wish a Vapiano would open up a little closer to me!! After dinner we went out to a club in DC and my sister was able to join us. It was a lot of fun, but I couldn’t stop yawning! I’m getting old!

As I’m starting out on the last year of my mid twenties, I have noticed a few things about myself…one of which is that my idea of fun has changed a lot over the past couple of years! Going out to clubs every weekend is no longer really my scene (not that it ever really was) and I’m perfectly content to spend my Friday and Saturday nights in with takeout and a Netflix marathon. I like Real Simple magazine and burning candles and have noticed that I prefer to wear clothes that are slightly more modest than I wore when I was younger. I guess you could say that I’m growing up!

As kind of a side note, John gave me a record player for my birthday last weekend, and I love it so far! I only have three records (a Hall and Oates, David Bowie, and Mumford and Sons), but I’m excited to start expanding my collection. Do any of you love vinyl?? Any favorites you’d recommend I pick up?

Today I am super excited to spend the day working with my new business partner, Amanda, on our new project, Marry and Bright! We live about an hour apart, so it’s great when we have a chance to get together and work side by side. Speaking of Marry and Bright, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us so far! I couldn’t have dreamed of a better reaction and I am so excited for the official launch later this summer! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

  3. Brea says:

My dad has gotten really into vinyl lately, after inheriting his late brother’s sound system. He goes to record and tape traders a bit but surprisingly there are a lot of people on craiglist with tons of records of various genres and time periods who will let them go for $1 a piece or less you just have to come pick through them and find what you want!

What a fun weekend! Outlet shopping is pretty much my favorite!! I love finding “work” clothes that way πŸ™‚

  5. Well, we used to listen to Mickey’s Mouseketeers on vinyl growing up – so I’d highly suggest that one! πŸ˜‰

The amount of bands that are making vinyls these days is actually growing! I hope your listening experience is awesome and low key weekends are totally okay πŸ˜‰

  7. WE LOVE OUR RECORD PLAYER! Whenever we go thrifting or to yard sales, I always dig through the stacks. We’ve found some great vintage ones, like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and some awesome old Christmas music, like Bing Crosby. We also love the selection at Urban Outfitters. The ones we listen to the most are Florence and the Machine and The Civil Wars. πŸ™‚
