A Case of the Thursdays

Our last day of our Holiday break was yesterday, and John and I are both back to work today. I love my job and I’m excited to get back to work, but it was definitely a little bittersweet to wake up this morning and John was already at work. I won’t lie…I’m missing him a little bit this morning! As we went to bed last night I looked at him and said, “This is how I know we’re meant to be together..we were together for almost every minute of the last 11 days and I’m not ready for it to end”. To me, being married is being with the person who really is your best friend…that person that makes even the most boring day something fun and memorable. I always look forward to Christmas break because we rarely have quality time to spend together, and this break was one I will always remember!

How did we spend our break? We spent a ton of time relaxing, caught the finale of Breaking Bad, saw a bunch of movies (and rewatched some old ones, like Inception), cooked together, went to Ikea (and assembled new furniture!), made crafts (a terrarium and cork trivets), hung out with lots of friends (a miracle, because during wedding season we they never see us!), drank champagne on New Year’s, celebrated our 6th Christmas together, and cuddled Lucy. It was the perfect end to one of the busiest years ever for us!

I also snuck in an engagement session for one of our 2014 couples…:) Rilee and Ashley were in town for their Christmas break, so we met up in Richmond and hung out for the afternoon!

I have to say, normally I’m really sad at the end of the year/beginning of the new year. Change can be difficult for me, and sometimes the transition from year to year is a little tough. But, I just have a really good feeling about 2014 and except for a little twinge at midnight when it finally hit me 2013 was over, I haven’t been sad at all about the New Year. I’m really excited for what 2014 has in store!

I’ll leave you guys with a little video I made on my iPhone on New Year’s Eve:) One of my goals this year is to make personal films just for myself, and this was my first attempt at doing something with video…also, yes I do plan to actually use my real camera to make them in the future!
