A Case of the Mondays #38

Weddings

October 14, 2013

Lately Mondays have been the day that I went out on my long run (I’m training for a half marathon!), but to be honest with you guys, I don’t forsee myself going out to run anymore than 3-4 miles today (and even that is only somewhat likely). I’m wiped out from this weekend’s festivities! Double header wedding weekends are no joke! A lot of photographer talk about the dreaded post wedding hangover (the day after a wedding you sometimes feel super tired/achy/sleepy/etc), but this year I haven’t really felt that. Some mornings I’ve woken up with achy feet after shooting 8-10 hours, but honestly, working out semi-often, drinking water the day before the wedding, and keeping myself fueled by cliff bars the day of the wedding has helped me immensely! Managing my PWH has allowed me to shoot more double headers this year and do fun things like explore NYC the day after a wedding instead of feeling like a zombie on Sundays! But let’s not talk about the PWH you get from double headers…I definitely foresee a nap in my future today.

Before I go any further into talking about our weekend and sharing some sneak peeks I just wanted to publicly brag a little bit about my husband/second shooter, John. I’m feeling a little bit like a zombie this morning after traveling ten hours and shooting for sixteen over the course of the weekend, but he’s the one who made it easy for me to be able to tackle two weddings in one weekend and not feel tired until the end. He was on his feet just as much as me, and then drove us to each wedding and back, then got up early to go to his regular job. I’m so lucky to have a partner who not only really supports my career and my business, but wholeheartedly invests his time and his heart into helping me and serving my clients, who I love so much! He also doesn’t judge me for eating two hash brown sandwiches a day, and will drive semi out of the way to take me to Sheetz where they sell my beloved hash brown sandwich. He’s a winner, guys:) Actually, no, I’M the winner for having been lucky enough to find such an amazing best friend!

Saturday, we headed up to Manassas to shoot Danielle and Chris’ wedding at the Candy Factory at the Center for the Arts! Danielle and Chris are so much fun to be around, and their families are too. We had such a great time spending the day with this group of people…we laughed so much and truly enjoyed every minute of their day. And the rain held off too for the most part! There were some light drizzles, but ultimately, it was a beautiful day!

Sunday, we drove to Charlottesville for Samantha and Vernon’s wedding at Early Mountain Vineyard. Seriously one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever shot at! I kept thinking to myself I could totally see a celebrity coming out to sneakily get married there like Jennifer Aniston is rumored to have done at Pippin Hill (psst..on my bucket list to shoot there!). It rained much more on Sunday than it did Saturday and though Mother Nature may have tried to put a damper on Sam and Vernon’s day (pun intended) these two didn’t let it get them down! They were such troopers…even trekking through muddy fields and vineyards because beautiful portraits were important to them! I’d say it was totally worth it!!

That’s it for me today, guys! I’m going to do some light office work and then rest up for a lovely engagement session I have planned with a 2014 couple tomorrow afternoon! So excited to be getting to know some of my 2014 couples this month!! If these engagement sessions are any indication of how next year will go, it’s going to be an awesome year!
