Life in Quarantine

Personal

May 21, 2020

I think it goes without saying that the last 9 weeks have been a really strange and stressful time for a lot of us. We’re living in a world that feels a little bit like the twilight zone and it’s hard to say when things may ever go back to “normal”.

For me (and many others!), it felt a little like life came to a halt at the beginning of quarantine. This time of year I’m usually pretty busy with spring wedding season. In any other year, my days would be full of scheduling and shooting engagement sessions, booking new clients )for Fall and next year’s spring), working with clients on timelines and family formal lists, editing sessions, sending a million emails, and of course, preparing for and shooting weddings. While I know staying at home to slow the spread of COVID-19 is the right thing to do (and I am happy to do my part!) I’ve been missing all of those things…especially interacting with my clients and working with my favorite second shooters!

That being said, I think the silver lining to this weird time has been the opportunity to slow down a little. Life has been much different than normal, but there have been sweet moments too! My boyfriend moved in with Lucy and me just about a month before quarantine began, so having extra quality time together has been an unexpected gift!

During this time we have: refinished our patio furniture, planted flowers, finished a 1000 piece puzzle, cooked many homemade meals, grilled out on our patio a ton, went on bike rides together, and finished the entire series of Entourage! I’ve had the opportunity to read more and I’ve learned to bake focaccia and dutch oven bread. It has been a challenging couple of months in many ways, but there’s a lot to be grateful for, for sure.

I hope you all have been hanging in there during these crazy, unprecedented times! I’m missing you all and sending positive vibes. Stay safe and healthy and hopefully we’ll all be through this before we know it 🙂
