Summer Bucket List – 2015

Personal

June 24, 2015

I think it’s really important to make a summer bucket list every year because Summer seems to fly by so fast! Especially now that I’m a wedding photographer and I basically live my life from week to week, or event to event. If you aren’t paying close enough attention to the days as they pass you by, one day it’s June and then the next thing you know, you look up and it’s time to wear coats again!

I LOVE summer. I love warm nights that smell of sweetness and grass and concrete as the world cools down. I love stepping into our air conditioned apartment after a day out in the heat. I love popsicles, corn on the cob, and fireworks. I love crabbing and lemonade and the taste of salt on your skin after being at the beach all day. Summer feels like being young to me. It feels like anything is possible and life could go on forever. Summer smells like my childhood and feels like it could last forever if we let it.  This has always been the best time of year to me because so many good things happened to me during past summers. My birthdays were always celebrated then and it’s when I fell started to realized I was falling in love with John. For that reason, I think it should be celebrated and enjoyed to the fullest and making a bucket list ensures I won’t just let the whole thing pass me by without experiencing some of it.

Here’s what’s on my summer bucket list this year!

  • Eat fresh watermelon
  • Have a picnic
  • Eat cold fried chicken (hopefully leftovers from above picnic)
  • Pick blueberries and peaches
  • Make pie with above fruits
  • Wine tasting in the mountains (Beer tasting too, if we’re feeling ambitious)
  • Swimming lessons for John and I (so we don’t drown in Hawaii trying to check out sea turtles and whales)
  • A trip to Busch Gardens
  • Celebrate John’s birthday in Atlantic City with friends
  • Eat outside, preferably with margaritas or mojitos
  • Crabbing  (and eating crabs)
  • Hit a food truck court
  • Make smores
  • Go camping
  • See Fireworks
  • Day drinking somewhere fun
  • Go kayaking + stand up paddleboarding
  • Go to a drive in movie

What’s on your summer bucket list? Do you love Summer as much as I do?  I’d love to hear what’s on your bucket list if you have one!

Love your summer bucket list! Mine would like probably something like this: make lots of trips to the lake with my puppy, go to the seaside, make a few hiking trips, pick some blueberries, make time to go to the food markets in the capital :).

LOVE this list!! I would love to do so many of these things – including make s’mores and hit a food truck court! Some things on my list are play some miniature golf & have drinks on a rooftop bar in NYC 🙂
