First of all, I sincerely apologize if you clicked this link hoping that my big announcement would be a pregnancy. Sadly, that is not the case…and most likely won’t be for at least a little while longer (sorry, Mom!). Second, I can’t believe this day is finally here! Today my new business partner Amanda and I are “soft launching” our new wedding inspiration blog…Marry & Bright!

(For those of you who didn’t already know…Amanda and I met last year when I photographed her WEDDING! Since then she has become an event stylist and one of my favorite people as well! I consider myself so lucky to have her in my life and as my business partner, no less! )

A year or so ago I had started submitting a lot of my work to wedding blogs for possible features. If you’ve never submitted to a wedding blog before, you might not know this, but wedding blogs mostly cater to very specific niches. There are TONS of great local and semi local wedding blogs (my favorites are Bayside Bride, Charm City Wed, United With Love, and Capitol Romance), but there aren’t really any that serve Virginia as a whole. I grew up in Virginia, got married in Virginia, and photograph weddings in Virginia and I can attest to the fact that it’s not only an incredibly beautiful state, but also an amazing destination for weddings! So many couples get married in this great state…there’s a NEED for a wedding blog specifically for Virginian couples!

This project has been in the works for a little while, but it’s been something I’ve been daydreaming about and thinking to myself “what if??” about for a really long time! Did you ever have an idea that you thought would be the PERFECT solution to something or other but life just kept getting in your way, or it seemed too hard, or like it would take too much time (or any other of the million excuses we give ourselves)? That’s what this project was to me for a really long time. I was so excited about the idea, but not yet ready or willing to take the risk and put in the work to make it happen.

One thing I’ve learned from starting my own business is that there really is no time like the present. If you wait forever until it’s “the right time” for something, you might never get it. You can’t worry and let the what ifs hold you back. You have to just go for it!
