A Case of the Mondays #20

It’s Monday already?? How did this happen?? I’m not going to lie. We’ve been really busy lately! My business is as busy as it’s ever been, and just so you know, I’m not complaining (not even a little bit!)…I love it. I really do. But it has definitely been a learning experience balancing our personal life and my business. I’ve had to say “no” a lot more (which I hate) and SCHEDULE time off ahead of time. So it’s been hectic around here, but we’ve been trying to make sure that we fit in time for fun stuff as well! On Friday I took a much needed day off and went to the pool for a couple hours, then headed home to straighten up our apartment for our overnight guests!! One of the best parts of my job has been making so many new friends…each year of business so far has given me lots of new friends/clients and each year we seem to come across a couple (or more!) who are just such awesome friends to us we almost forget that they are clients. Seriously, we love this couple so much and we are so happy they were our first overnight guests in our current place! We took them to a seafood place nearby and then shared some ciders at a local bar. For breakfast the next morning, instead of hitting up a typical breakfast spot, we went to BOJANGLES. Haha. It was pretty awesome:)

Saturday, we shot Kelly and Michael’s wedding in Richmond! I loved getting to know these two and their sweet families! They are both part of such tight knit families and I love that! Look for more from their wedding soon!

Sunday, we went to Petersburg (where I have not been in at least TEN YEARS) to shoot a maternity session for my internet friend, Molly and her awesome husband, John! I was SO EXCITED to finally meet her because we have been emailing and Facebooking and following each other on instagram for FOREVER. I just think Molly is one of the most genuine, caring people and I was so excited to meet her and her husband and shoot their session! Right after we started shooting, it started POURING down rain. We ran and got under this bridge and I am actually happy that happened because the light was so pretty! I would have never thought to shoot underneath there otherwise!

On a more serious note, last week there was a death in our family. While I was talking to my mom about it, I not only was reminded how short life really is, but how important it is to spend your time here doing something that you love and making every single moment with your loved ones count. Life is so unpredictable, but it’s beautiful and it’s the most important thing we will ever do! It may have been a busy few weeks for me, and at times maybe stressful trying to learn to balance, but I never want to lose sight of that truth and what is ultimately most important in life. As Mary says (I’m paraphrasing…) “Focus  on having a great life, not making a living”.

Give your family and friends an extra hug today and just enjoy them! Life is short…we have to soak up every moment of goodness we can:)
