Georgetown University Wedding Sneak Peeks

Wow, what a weekend! A part of me is still recovering from how hectic it was! I have a tendency to pack my schedule full and this weekend was jam packed with lots of goodness. We started on Saturday by photographing Mary and Simon’s wedding day at their alma mater, Georgetown University! It was such a perfect day planned out to the tee by Mary’s mom, Lisa!

Sunday morning we were up bright and early to photograph Heidi and Joe’s engagement session! We were treated to the most beautiful sunset…and Heidi and Joe brought us District Donuts as a sweet surprise! Also, how adorable are their dogs??

Our next stop was to Janine and Josh’s home in Maryland to photograph them with the new addition to their family…their daughter, Cassidy! I LOVE these type of lifestyle family sessions and had such a great time catching up with Janine and Josh!

Lastly, we met Sarah and Jason back in DC for their engagement session! It was fun to hear all about their wedding plans for their big day this Fall and spend some time exploring a part of the city I’ve never seen before!

While I still feel like I’m recovering from this busy weekend, I loved spending so much time with our clients and I’m excited to have lots of fun things to share on the blog this week, including Mica and Conor’s wedding and more!! If you’d like to keep up with us and see lots of behind the scenes stuff when we’re shooting busy weekends like this past one, be sure to follow along on Instagram, where I add lots of things like that to my story!!

First Landing State Park Engagement Photos

I loved spending a beautiful, summer-like evening with Renee and Jesse in Virginia Beach last weekend! Although they live in Richmond now, they used to live together right near the beach…literally in walking distance! They decided that since their wedding photos will be in their new home, RVA, they wanted their engagement photos to be at their old home at the beach!

We met at a park that they loved going to and walked around with their puppy, Snoop (and Renee’s mom, who was on Snoop patrol while we photographed without him!) and got to hear all about their wedding plans and a funny story about a hike that ended up being SUPER long and crazy. I loved how they interacted together and how much fun they made the session!

After the park, we spent a little bit of time at the beach! The weather had called for clouds, so I was thrilled to see the sun make it’s appearance!! Be sure to scroll to the end so you don’t miss the beach photos 🙂

Enjoy a few faves!!

Pippin Hill Farms Wedding Sneak Peeks

It’s the first day of May and things are feeling back in full swing around here! I’m double fisting cups of coffee this morning as I upload all of the images from the beautiful things we photographed this weekend. While it may still have technically been Spring this weekend, it felt like the start of Summer had arrived early! Both days were hot and humid, but you wouldn’t have known that to look at these sneak peeks I’m about to share!

Saturday we photographed Mica and Conor’s wedding at Pippin Hill Farms and Vineyards in Charlottesville! Pippin Hill is one of my all time favorite wineries and it was such a joy to be a part of Mica and Conor’s wedding alongside Just a Little Ditty, Ginger Topham, Photosynthesis Florals, and more!

Sunday we woke up early to prepare for the first ever Styled Experience with Katie Nesbitt! I have been dreaming about putting together a gay wedding shoot for what feels like forever and to finally see it come to fruition and get to share it with fellow photographers was incredible!

I can’t share too many of those images just yet…but here’s a little peek at what As You Wish cooked up for the shoot with Ginger and Blooms, Sweet Fix, Paisley and Jade, and Ceindy Doodles.

Lots of good stuff coming to the blog this week! We’ll also be prepping for another weekend full of shooting and with good weather in the forecast, I’m hoping to sneak out to pick strawberries one morning! What’s on your agenda this week?

Branding Session for Bri & Wes Photography

The photos I’m going to share with you guys today were some of the most fun to photograph! I think that has a lot to do with how much fun Bri and Wes of Bri & Wes Photography are…their positive, spirited energy shows through in all that they do, so of course it was easy to capture in photos! It helps that this is the THIRD time I’ve gotten to photograph them together…I photographed their engagement session and then their wedding day back in 2015!!

It’s been so much fun watching their business successes over the past couple of years that I’ve known them. Shooting this session for their upcoming rebrand was such an honor and a joy!! I’m so glad to have met these two!

Enjoy some of my favorites from their session at Paisley and Jade!

Six years

Yesterday was my six year business anniversary and it’s funny to me that six years ago you could have asked me what I might be doing in six years and I probably would have said I didn’t know. I would have hoped I’d be doing this, but back then this business was mostly just lots of big dreams and not a lot else. I had no website, no experience, didn’t own very much in the way of camera gear, and I had no idea how I’d save up for what I needed/wanted! I remember one day sitting at my desk, scrolling looking at camera gear, and thinking to myself “There’s no way I can do this…it would probably take forever to build a business and I can’t even picture it right now”. Little did I know all of the hard work that I’d put in over the next months and years would lead me to be sitting at my desk today, typing out a six-year anniversary post!

It’s been six years since I picked up my camera and photographed my first wedding and I can still feel the butterflies in my stomach that I felt that day and how I didn’t even eat before because I was so nervous! My hands were shaking a little bit as I worried about missing some kind of pivotal moment or picking the wrong kind of light to shoot in. I had no idea what I was getting myself into! Six years after that first wedding, I’ve photographed over 125 weddings and while I’m no longer nervous to the point where I can’t eat before I start shooting, I still take every wedding day as seriously as I took my first one. It’s a privilege to be a part of one of the biggest days of someone’s life! And to included in so many intimate moments throughout that big day is always such an honor to me. I don’t take that lightly and I’m thankful to every single one of our clients who’s let us into their world over the past six years!

My life has changed in a thousand ways since that first wedding and although the journey to where I am today hasn’t always been easy, it’s been the best thing I’ve ever done. I’m grateful every day to have the opportunity to make something that I love into a career! Happy six years to KNP!
